A Tandem Arts Partnership Initiative with Communities In Schools of Central Texas

Tandem Arts Partnership is proud to collaborate with Communities In Schools of Central Texas — a leading nonprofit dedicated to surrounding students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Together, we’re bringing Visual Art Journaling for Creative Expression to middle and high school students who need it most.

This program is designed for:

• Students facing academic, emotional, or social challenges

• Youth who benefit from non-verbal outlets

• Teens exploring identity and belonging

Through guided art journaling, students find a safe space to express emotions, build self-awareness, and develop creative confidence — helping them feel seen, supported, and empowered through art.

 

Program Objectives

1. Emotional Expression & Processing
   Foster a nurturing space for students to express feelings and process experiences through guided creative prompts.

2. Self-Discovery & Identity Building
   aspirations to help students explore who they are and how they see the world.

3. Stress Reduction & Mental Well-being
   Use meditative art practices to promote calm, focus, and joy — offering moments of freedom and beauty.

4. Creative Confidence & Play
   Invite experimentation and curiosity with open-ended techniques that build confidence and provide lifelong tools for healing through self-expression.

Impact & Funding

We’re serving up to four campuses this school year, reaching schools in need of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)support. The program adapts to meet each student’s individual needs.

Program Costs per Semester

• Supplies: $940

• Instruction & Planning: $1,380

• Total: $2,320

A $5,000 donation funds this vital program for an entire school year, providing all supplies, facilitation, and student materials.
